This commission started off with a phone call and a question: “Could you build me one double bass with two different necks?” Utilizing my Travel Neck system I was able to build a 4 string neck with C-Extension (setup for classical) and a 5 string neck with C-Extension (setup for high C jazz). The outcome was really wonderful! Both necks have their own bridges and tailpieces. Included were two straight 4 and 5 string nuts so the customer can setup the bass in four different ways. Swapping between the two necks takes about 15 minutes.
